A lot of people think that LG and Samsung make the best TVs right now. and they sell them at both high and low prices. However, many of their high-end TVs use different panel technologies. Some differences could make or break the deal. Now is not the time to know what they are. 

All over the world, people buy TVs made by these two South Korean companies. They’re well known in both the US and the UK. Panasonic and Philips don’t have enough rights to work in North America. but these companies do. They have a lot of users and come out with a lot of new TVs every year. 

It’s hard to compare prices between Samsung and LG because they make so many sets every year. It doesn’t make sense to compare the best TV of the year from Samsung to a cheap LG set, which is a great deal.Both brands make some of the best 32-inch smart TVs, 4K TVs, and even 8K TVs. which are giant screens that cost a lot of money. You can get a new TV from either brand, no matter what size, shape, quality, or price range you want.

Hyundai and LG are the basis for smart TVs. Apple’s iOS and LG’s webOS are both seen as two of the best smart TV systems by many. They’re fast and have the newest apps, but they’re not the same. 

LG has been the leader since 2014 with webOS, a simple smart TV interface.An app, video service, and data that you use a lot are kept in a horizontal menu bar. These apps can be moved around, so you can set your favorite ones where you want them on the list. 

The picture above shows that the interface has changed over the past few years. Instead of the standard overlay of apps, it now has a full-screen view that is more spread out. However, we still think it is the best smart TV platform out there.

The layout of Samsung’s Tizen platform isn’t very different from the layout of the first one; you could say it was inspired by the first one. The OS gets rid of unnecessary things, but this can make it harder to find apps sometimes. That’s easier to do with the Smart Hub video page. It lets you pick what to show from apps, USB sticks, and your home network. One big difference is that it doesn’t find as well as LG’s ThinQ AI software. 

But what about voice aids? LG’s OLED and Super UHD TVs come with Google Assistant already installed, and they can also connect to some devices that use Alexa. Samsung has a helper called Bixby that isn’t as good, but it only works on mid-range or high-end TVs. However, you can use Google Helper or Alexa on other platforms.

Three types of screens are used in high-end TVs today: OLED, QLED, and LED. 

The letters “OLED” stand for “organic light-emitting diode.” This type of TV screen can shine light instead of letting light pass through it. One good thing about an OLED TV is that you can change how bright each pixel is, and the screens are fragile. People know that OLEDs have dark blacks, bright colors, and little light. 

There is a lot of talk about pictures “burning in” on OLED screens, but a lot of it is just hearsay. That’s not likely to happen unless you work the set really hard. You can thank LG even if you have a Sony OLED at home because the company makes all OLED screens. 

QLED, on the other hand, is a method that Samsung made. Quantum dots are used as a filter in QLED to improve color and contrast instead of being able to change the brightness of each pixel separately. It does this with a number of lowering zones instead. The brightness of a QLED TV is thousands of nits, while an OLED TV’s brightness is hundreds of nits. Because of this, It’s possible that QLED TVs won’t be able to show both dark and light scenes very well at the same time.

Still, Samsung is putting out the Samsung S95B in 2022 as an attempt at making an OLED TV. This is true even though Samsung calls it QD-OLED. This screen uses a brand-new kind of OLED technology that combines the well-known self-emitting features of OLED with the QLED’s ability to be bright and show a wide range of colors. 

Also, keep this in mind: Even though LG is known for its OLED screens, it also has a device called NanoCell that works like QLED. In NanoCell TVs, there are nanoparticles between the screen and the LED lights behind it. These can make colors and brightness better. NanoCell TVs and OLED TVs both have a lot of good points. 

SAMSUNG VS. LG TV: TYPES OF SCREEN

Both companies make TVs that can play a slightly different high dynamic range (HDR) format. The best OLEDs and Super UHD TVs from LG have Dolby Vision, and the best TVs from Samsung have HDR10+. 

This is how both versions work: “dynamic metadata” changes the TV image based on what is being shown. The brightness, contrast, and processing of the picture are changed to fit scenes like dark caves or well-lit drawing rooms. 

That’s not all. Dolby Vision is better and more popular than HDR10+ because its color gamut is 12 bits instead of 10. It works with both the Google Chromecast and Google TV, as well as the Apple TV 4K. 

To be fair, the best HDR format only counts for expensive TVs. However, people who are willing to spend a lot of money should carefully consider which services they’ll want HDR material on.

Another thing to note is that Panasonic doesn’t favour one HDR format over another. The Panasonic GX800 LED TV, which isn’t very expensive, can handle both Dolby Vision and HDR10+.

Samsung is the market leader right now, but the brand of TV you pick will rely on your tastes and whether any of the differences we’ve talked about above are essential to you. Keep in mind, though, that you should compare things that are the same. For example, a high-end Samsung set will always be better than a cheap LG set, and the same goes for the other way around.

You can’t go wrong with either a Samsung or an LG TV, but it will help you choose if you know the main differences between their screen technologies, brands, and styles.
