Wakanda Forever!
Marvel has suddenly announced an animated Black Panther spin-off that is said to start on Disney Plus in 2024.
Eyes of Wakanda will soon be added to Marvel’s animation back catalog. The news was first shared at a special screening of What If…? season 2, and it was later confirmed in a Disney press statement.
Marvel wouldn’t say much more about its next Black Panther project, which was announced more than a year after the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The Disney-owned company only confirmed that Eyes of Wakanda would finally be available on Disney Plus. They then gave a short plot summary: “Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been sent around the world to collect dangerous vibranium artifacts.” This is their tale.”
At the event, I saw a video of Marvel’s Black Panther show EYES OF WAKANDA for myself! The animation isn’t like #WhatIf; it’s more like Pixar. There could be a Black Panther, I think. It was over so fast; I was too excited to remember the truth. It looks really great! Twitter image: YhLeEZHEWXTwelveteen December 2023
Eyes of Wakanda is the first public confirmation we’ve gotten about a few Black Panther side projects that are said to be in the works. There were rumors that a live-action Midnight Angels series starring Danai Gurira as Okoye was in the works before Wakanda Forever came out in November 2022. There were also rumors of a separate Namor movie, but the cast of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever told TechRadar that they had no idea what those reports were.
There was a scene at the end of the second Black Panther movie that made me think there might be a third one, but Marvel hasn’t said for sure. Read our story about the scene at the end of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever to get a better idea of what might happen next if and when a new movie is revealed.
Of course, Eyes of Wakanda isn’t the only official Black Panther-related project being worked on for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Ironheart, a Marvel Phase 5 TV show, is set to come out on Disney Plus sometime in 2025, even though filming for the show ended in November 2022. A leak from the US Copyright Office also claimed that Daredevil: Born Again won’t come out until 2025. This leak also seemed to suggest that Ironheart won’t come out until September 2025, which is almost three years after filming ended.
EYES ON THE PRIZE FOR 2024?
So, Eyes of Wakanda is coming to Disney Plus. When can MCU fans expect it to start watching on one of the best services in the world?
Eyes of Wakanda is said to be coming out next year by a number of sources, such as Comicbookmovie.com and the Disney fan website The Boardwalk Times. But Reddit user NR_John, who saw the second season of What If…? last night (December 11), said Marvel didn’t promise that Eyes of Wakanda would come out in 2024. In short, we don’t know when it will come out.
Many people think Eyes of Wakanda will come out in 2024. This is especially true if Marvel has been working on it for a long time, and it’s ready to go sometime next year. On the other hand, Marvel just recently said that X-Men ’97, Echo, and Agatha: Darkhold Diaries will all be on Disney Plus in 2024. These three shows are set to air over the next twelve months. So, it would be odd if Marvel added Eyes of Wakanda to its TV plan at the last minute, even though the studio often changes when movies and TV shows come out.
We’ve asked Disney and Marvel for their thoughts on the rumored release date for Eyes of Wakanda. If we hear back, we’ll make changes to this story.
